HD TV Off-Road Racing Film Announced

From a press release:

June 08, 2004
Old Lyme, Connecticut (June 3, 2004)- - Essex Television Group Inc. and Discovery Communications’ Discovery HD Theater recently completed an action-packed one-hour documentary scheduled to air Saturday June 12, 2004 at 9:00 p.m (EST) and again Sunday June 20 at 2:00 p.m(EST). The program, titled “When the Dust Settles” is a
one-hour feature film, shot in high-definition format, about the multi-million dollar challenge of the Terrible Herbst Racing Team as they prepare for and compete in 2003 SCORE Baja 1000 desert race.

Using helicopters and chase vehicles, the Essex Television production team traveled the entire 1000 mile route to document the Herbst’s incredible pursuit of Baja glory. The Baja 1000, non-stop for 1000 desert miles, is one of the greatest thrills in auto racing and is among the most dangerous races in the world. Terrible Herbst Motorsports is a
desert-racing dynasty, and a perennial Baja favorite. Owners of a Las Vegas gambling empire, the Herbst family spared no expense for their 15th try at a first place finish that has previously eluded them.

“When the Dust Settles” is Essex Television Group’s second high definition film about the 1000, having produced the award winning, feature documentary, Drive Like Hell in 2002.

Essex Television Group Inc. (www.essextelevision.com) is a producer of award-winning documentary programming for broadcast, corporate television, home video and museum display. The company, based in Old Lyme, Connecticut, is owned and managed by filmmakers Jim Astrausky and Dan Carey. As a leader in high-definition production, Essex Television has numerous high-definition documentary series and specials in production around the country.
